To be invited to show your work in an invitational exhibition is a great honor and tends to validate the whole creative process. Being “judged in” energizes
your effort to climb the ladder.
In 2013 I accepted no invitations nor entered any “call for work” offerings. My reason was that I was making a complete transition to clay, to develop a certain level of ability — not too mention a recovery from hand surgery in December of 2012. Like Cortéz, I scuttled my ships.
As my clay improved, I began pulling  older work from the galleries. My goal was to start from scratch . . . a
clean break. My first invitational response for clay work, was to send three pieces to Warm Springs Gallery in Charlottesville, VA.
I have been invited to be the “2014 visiting artist” by The College of Mobile and a show Miya Gallery in Weavervile, NC. In 2015 I have three invitational shows: at Morgan Contemporary Gallery’s 10th Annual Teapot Invitational in Pittsburgh, a three month one man show in the Small Format Gallery at Blue Spiral 1 Gallery in Asheville; and, a one month, two person show at River Gallery in Chattanooga, TN. Hurray for clay!
